Major General James Wilkinson

One of the most disreputable men in American life, Wilkinson was a born intriguer and paid spy for a foreign government who saw his appointment as a senior general on the northern frontier as a chance to redeem a badly tarnished reputation. General Wilkinson and Major General Wade Hampton hated each other but had to work together on the attack on Montreal in Lower Canada. (modern day Quebec)
