Brigadier General Peter B. Porter, New York Militia (1773-1844)
The easy going Porter, a born politician, was a prewar member of congress and prominent member of the "war hawks" faction that agitated for a military solution to the problems between the United States and Great Britain. As a militia general, Porter participated in the 1813 campaign in the Niagara and commanded the Third Brigade of Brown's Left Division during the 1814 campaign.
