Commodore Isaac Chauncey, U.S. Navy (1773 - 1840)

The senior American naval officer on the Great Lakes during the war, Chauncey was an intelligent and efficient administrator but a somewhat cautious commander. His full co-operation was a necessary pre-condition for the success of the seventh American invasion of Upper Canada in July 1814.
