militia foot rifles that was
raised in Greene County (southwestern Ohio) early in the War of 1812. The
company was raised by Capt.
James Steele and was the first unit into action from the area when the word
of the fall of Detroit arrived in Xenia, OH. Steele and 70 of his men went
to war and 58 of them came back six months later.
