Eleazar W. Ripley, U.S. Army
Commanding the Second Brigade at
the Battle of Chippawa, Ripley was ordered by Genral Brown to ford Streets
Creek and to attack the British Flank. His movement was delayed because the
stream had become almost impassible on account of heavy rainfall, and his
brigade did not enter the battle until Scott's brigade had decisively
rebuffed the British attack.
