Major General Phineas Riall, British Army

The British commander in the Niagara Peninsula at the beginning of the 1814 campaign, Riall was a brave and aggressive officer who had beaten American troops in a number of small actions the previous winter. At Chippawa on 5 July 1814, he encountered Brown's Left Division for the first time and the result was something very different. At the Battle of Lundy's Lane Riall was wounded and captured.
