Sabre
Wound
A gruesome portrait of a soldier,
sketched by Surgeon Bell of the British army in a military hospital. The
sketch shows the effect of a sabre cut to the head. War in 1812-1814 was
the same brutal business of hot-and-cold blooded killing as it is
today.
