Lieutenant Duncan Clark, Incorporated Militia (1785 - 1862)

Canada's answer to Paul Revere, Lieutenant Duncan Clark was posted above Elizabethtown (modern day Brockville) to warn the communities below if the Americans should come down the river.

On November 5th 1813 he spotted General Wilkinson's flotilla and, mounting a borrowed plough horse, rode off at a furious plod along the St. Lawrence to warn everyone that "The Americans are coming the Americans are coming!
